Hello I would need to know if you are recommending this item for use in an emergency situation where we would have to carry a patient down a set of stairs. I also need to know what is the maximum load (weight of the patient) these slings can handle. Thanks in advance.

We do not recommend using this item to carry a patient down a set of stairs. Also, the handle strength can hold up to 250 lbs.
